INTERNET SAFETY FOR PARENTS

Just a reminder to inform you that there will be a meeting for parents to-night in Culter School at 7 p.m. relating to Internet Safety.

You will be aware that the Internet is a wonderful tool which can help children to learn and find out about the world.  We need to be aware however of the dangers which children can be exposed to through use of the Internet.

We believe parents need to know and understand how to protect young people on the Internet.

PC Derek Bain, our Police Liaison Officer, will be in school to-night to talk to parents about Internet Safety.

There will be a chance to ask questions and to find out more about protecting your child and how you can teach them to ’stay safe’ when they are online.

All parents are welcome.

We look forward to seeing you.

We would like to thank all who helped us gather the unwanted textiles that resulted in an increase to school funds.

CULTER SCHOOL BOOK FAIR -29 JANUARY-3 FEBRUARY 09

You are invited to our annual School Book Fair which will take place in the School Infant Hall from Thursday 29 January – Tuesday 3 February.  On Thursday and Friday please come along at the times detailed below and browse through the hundreds of children’s books which will be on display.  On Monday and Tuesday you will have the opportunity to buy any of these books.

Your child will also have the opportunity to browse and buy books at the times detailed.  (If paying cheque, please make it payable to “Culter School Fund”).

In the past, our Book Fairs have been successful in encouraging children to read, as well as being an important source of new books for the school.  We will receive commission on every book sold and this will help us to extend our school reading resources.  We hope that you will support us again this year.

SCHOOL UNIFORM JANUARY 2009

Just a brief note to inform you that our stock of sweatshirts have arrived in school.

Prior to the Easter holidays parents may place an order to prepare for next Session 2009/2010. A hard copy of the sweatshirt order form can be obtained from the School Office or you can access the School main blogsite (abernet.org.uk/culterblog) and follow the links to the school office blog.   The School Office Blog is: www.culterschooloffice.edublogs.org

All orders must have the payment enclosed in an envelope with your child’s name and current class.  Cheques are to be made payable to: “Culter School Fund”.

We would envisage getting all orders in by 25 March 2009 and sending them off before school closes on 3 April for the Easter break.  Hopefully the garments will be in school sometime in May.

STRIKE ACTION WEDNESDAY 24 SEPTEMBER 2008

Culter Primary School will be closed to all P1-P7 pupils on 24 September 2008 owing to strike action by of members of UNITE, GMB and UNISON. Most Pupil Support Assistants and Office Staff.  None of the staff working in the main building on Wednesday 24 September are trained in First Aid.

It is with regret that the school has to be closed.

However, Culter Nursery will be open as usual on Wednesday 24 September 2008.

This may cause disruption and inconvenience but the safety and and well being of the children must, as always take priority.

The school will open again on Thursday 25 September at 9.00 a.m. as usual.
